Scoring providers

Scoring provider (definition)

A scoring provider is a source of risk assessment for a loan application. HES LoanBox ships with two: Internal provider and GiniMachine. A third-party provider can be added as a customization: the integration is built into the platform, and the scoring decision table is extended so that the new provider’s output is reconciled with the others.

A product group can be configured with one provider or several. When several are configured, all of them run.

Internal provider

The internal provider evaluates the application against the platform’s scoring model — a DMN decision table maintained by the lender’s credit officer under Settings > Scoring model. The platform always uses the active version of that model when scoring runs.

Returns: an internal rank (a single letter, A to E)

The rank scale is a platform convention; the rules that map borrower attributes to each rank are entirely lender-defined. The model is deterministic, fully readable in the decision table editor, and versioned with a full history of who changed what and when.

A platform instance operates with a single borrower type — person or legal entity — and the scoring model is matched to that type.

GiniMachine

The GiniMachine provider sends the application to a trained model hosted on the connected GiniMachine instance.

Returns:

Output Description
Model The name of the GiniMachine model that produced the result, for example, lb_person_scoring_9_columns. Recorded on the application.
Probability of repayment The model’s numeric output for this application, for example, 0.8090. Can be in the green zone, grey zone, or red zone.
Resolution The model’s verdict, shown in the interface as a label — Approve in the example above. It enters the Scoring result decision table as a boolean.
Attribute effects Every attribute the model used, with the value taken from the application and that attribute’s signed contribution to the outcome. See Reading GiniMachine scoring results.

Note

Only the resolution feeds the Scoring result decision table. The Probability of repayment and the attribute effects are stored on the application and shown to the credit officer, but they do not change the zone directly.

Choosing a provider

Configuration How the zone is determined
Internal only By the internal rank alone — rules 5 to 7 of the Scoring result table.
GiniMachine only By the resolution alone — rules 8 and 9.
Both Rank and resolution are reconciled — rules 1 to 4 where they match, otherwise rules 5 to 7.
Internal, GiniMachine and a third-party provider The reconciliation rules are extended as part of the integration.
